About this event

Join us for a special event co-sponsored by the investment readiness program of The European Union, World Bank and Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency!  Great startups are part of building a startup ecosystem, but angel investors are critical to fuel their growth and help local startups get traction needed to raise outside capital and enter new markets.

Nelson Gray brings a wealth of experience, some good stories, and a real-life sense of the life of a top angel investor.

Following the sale of his own businesses, Nelson became a “hands-on” mentor, non-executive director, educator, business angel investor and fund manager. He is a member of angel groups in the UK and USA, has personally invested in over 50 companies and many more as a fund manager, achieving exits via trade sales and IPO. He has acted as gatekeeper for Scotland’s leading angel syndicate, been a fund manager of a $250 million venture fund, and managed two early stage investment funds.

He has provided training and mentoring to entrepreneurs and early stage VC and angel investors in many countries across Europe and further afield, including in South America, India, Australia, Kazakhstan and New Zealand. He has also helped to build angel groups and investment funds in the UK, Latvia, Jordan, Russia, Egypt and the Caribbean.

Nelson was European Angel of the Year in 2008 and was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in 2015
