 Susanna Lamers, M.S., is the CEO and Scientific Director of BioInfoExperts LLC (BIE), located in Southern Louisiana. She has owned and managed businesses focused on pathogen genomics since 1990. BIE is currently funded by the National Science Foundation Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II program to develop a cloud-based analytics platform that will be used by hospitals to monitor infectious outbreaks, identify infection sources, and reduce hospital-acquired infections. In addition to the SBIR program, BIE subcontracts with multiple major universities across the United States to assist in genomics research endeavors. She has published more than 60 research articles and is a Board Member of an upcoming business incubator in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Susanna’s broad background in epidemiological studies, viral evolution, pathogenesis, and immunology is clearly relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic and she is passionate about assisting the Louisiana business community to step up to the changing needs of healthcare.
