12 years ago John & David established Action Point without external investment. They steadily built a reputation as an Irish firm that could deliver world-class projects, initially serving small businesses both locally and nationally. Today, Action Point serves mid-market, enterprise and public-sector clients, most recently delivering one of the world's very first online passport renewals systems.
Biographies of John Savage & David Jeffreys, co-founders of Action Point
John Savage graduated from the University of Limerick in 2001 with a QCA of 4.0, only the third student in the University's history to do so. His Computer Science Final Year Project won national awards from HP and Accenture as well as the QAD Design Competition. The President's Gold Medal followed soon after.
In 2005 John and David established Action Point without external investment. Action Point steadily and determinedly built a reputation as an Irish firm that could deliver world-class projects, initially serving small businesses both locally and nationally. Today, Action Point serves mid-market, enterprise and public-sector clients, most recently delivering one of the world's very first online passport renewals systems.
Action Point now employs more than 80 people with offices in Ireland, the US and the UK and has an annualised turnover in excess of €12 million. Winners of the Deloitte Fast 50 accolade four years running, Action Point was also awarded the Deloitte Best Managed Company award in 2017.
As CTO for Action Point, John drives the creativity and innovation required to deliver truly world-class services. His obsession with emerging technologies, along with his deep understanding of IoT and Augmented Reality has made him in constant demand as a speaker and commentator at national and international conferences.
In 2017, both John and David were honoured with a University of Limerick Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship.
Now a busy father of two, his hobbies, unsurprisingly, combine a love of technology with his competitive spirit; John enjoys racing drones, go-kart’s and full-size cars, as well as flying model helicopters.
David Jeffreys graduated from UL in 2001 with an honours degree in Computer Systems. Four years later at the age of 26, David founded Action Point in partnership with fellow award winner, John Savage.
Under David’s leadership as CEO, Action Point has achieved annualised revenues in excess of €12 million and provides employment to more than 80 people serving companies across Ireland, Europe and the US. With a world-class team delivering custom software and IT services, the company has attained many accolades: Deloitte Technology Fast 50 x4, Deloitte Best Managed Company 2017, Dell Partner of the Year 2014 and 2016, as well as Microsoft SMB Partner of the Year 2017.
David has long been a champion of the Limerick region, and is a Director of the Limerick Chamber of Commerce, where he works hard to support and represent the concerns of small businesses as chair of the Small Business Sub-Committee. He maintains strong ties with UL, recently completing a Diploma in Leadership.
Outside of work, David is happily married to Sarah, a lecturer in UL’s Graduate Entry Medical School, and together they are passionate Munster Rugby supporters who enjoy travelling and winter sports. David unwinds by running and is often seen pounding the tracks around campus where the office is situated.
