Kevin Waltermire is a proud member of the Charleston, SC community with a passion for the greater Lowcountry stemming from childhood memories in Charleston and Beaufort. Waltermire is a serial entrepreneur who credits his business acumen to his passion for international travel and understanding how culture influences the impulses and interests of people. By the time he graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.A in History with Minors in Philosophy and Religious Studies, Waltermire had traveled to multiple countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America studying local cultures.
Shortly after graduation, Waltermire moved to Washington state to open Oakland Bay Organic Farm (OBOF) with his brother in 2005. OBOF cultivates and distributes seasonal organic produce and organically fed, pastured livestock to local Puget Sound markets. Waltermire moved to Santa Teresa, Costa Rica in 2007 and started Unity International Investments, where he managed the investment groups' investments in the thriving real estate market in southern Nicoya Peninsula coastal properties. While in Santa Teresa, he also opened Good Vibrations Sports Bar, catering to the local demand for tropical cuisine and global sports.
In 2010, Waltermire returned to the College of Charleston as a member of the inaugural MBA class of '11 and completed his MBA with a focus in Marketing. After being hired out of the MBA program by AKASHA, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of home decor and decorative accents products, Waltermire held offices in Ann Arbor, MI and Shanghai, China as the Director of Operations.
After AKASHA was acquired by a competitor in 2014, Waltermire returned to entrepreneurship with a floating koozie product that he and friends had conceived while undergraduates. Waltermire re-branded the product 'the BEVBOY' and began marketing to pool supply, boat supply and marine markets. A year later in 2015, he appeared on ABC's "Shark Tank" and agreed to a deal with 'Shark' Daymond John. BEVBOY is currently distributed nationwide, and is being redesigned for a product line extension launch in Spring '18.
Recently, Waltermire launched a venture in tech and the music industry with MusicBoxx App and MusicBoxx Promo. MusicBoxx App is a music video based social network allowing users to share self-edited clips of music videos with followers, while MusicBoxx Promo is a software based promotional tool helping music venues promote upcoming shows on social media by posting clips of the bands' music videos instead of still images such as tour posters. The first music venue to sign on with MusicBoxx Promo was Charleston's own The Royal American.
Outside of business pursuits, Waltermire stays active by running, surfing, playing soccer, enjoying the incredible local culinary scene in Charleston, and continuing to travel both domestically and abroad. He is an active participant and contributor to the emerging entrepreneurial community in Charleston, including various local organizations supporting startups and small businesses. He loves his Vespa, 'Black Lightning'.
