In 2007, Alexander started smava, Germany´s first Fintech. With an annual loan volume of more than $1 bn and a total investment of $ 135 million, he developed smava to the leading marketplace for lending & one of best funded Fintechs in Germany. Prior to smava, Alexander was Co-Founder and CEO of datango, a software provider offering automated application training for large ERP software rollouts.

Smava was the first provider of p2p loans, loans with zero and negative interest rates and fully digitized and automated instant loans in Germany.
In 2017, the volume of loans originated through smava was c. $1.5 billion, with a total of more than $3 billion since inception. Smava is making personal loans transparent, fair and cheap for consumers.
