So I live in Palo Alto, like many other entrepreneurs out there I migrated to the area in search of great fortune. Have I found it? A little... Still out there looking for more and working on my current startup. I'm still out there looking for some like minded individuals. I'm still out there trying to start great companies. That leads me to my first question.
Why do I attend Startup Grind?
First, Startup Grind event is a great place to learn. Every time I attend Startup Grind I learn something new. I love learning, and I especially love learning from Entrepreneurs that have been there and done that. I get asked all the time; What are the best places to meet other like minded Entrepreneurs? Where can I go to get funding or to find people that are looking to fund companies? Where are places in Silicon Valley that are the best place to meet top talent? To all of those questions I answer: Startup Grind.
I have met some of the best talent there is to offer at Startup Grind. No, I don't work for the Grind, Derek or have anything to do with them. I really like the service that they offer. I attended my first event around 6 months ago. Up to this point I had attended 100+ meetups, tons of events on Eventbright, and a variety of other "startup" events. I was almost burned out. Then I heard about Startup Grind. Yes, you have to pay for this event. I went for it. I paid the $30 or so bucks to attend. Well worth the price.
There have been some of the greatest events of the year. After the first time I attended I purchased a Black Card, the card that'll get you into all the events. If you are in the Bay area or any other area that has Startup Grind you should have one. In the San Francisco Bay area you have access to like 3-10 events each month. Well worth the price you pay for it.
Who have you met at Startup Grind?
I have met some very interesting people at the Grind (as I call it). I have met pretty much every speaker that has spoken and personally introduced myself. I have met several VC's and Angel Investors. I have also meet some of the most brilliant people that Silicon Valley has to offer.
You will have time before and after each Grind to network with other Entrepreneurs. This is wonderful for people looking to meet other people with similar passions. If you meet someone, help them out as much as possible. Keep in mind that this world isn't always about getting as it is about giving. The more you give the more you will receive. Speaking of receiving, Steve Blank, the author of "The Startup Owners Manual" gave away books at one of the events. I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of this book giveaway.
I sure hope to see all of you at the next Startup Grind event. Click here to view when the next Grind event will be!
