On 25th January'13 we had the privilege to sit down with the accomplished entrepreneur Clement Song, founder of eCitySky. He had quite a year in 2012 as his company was acquired by YY Inc. in April, then YY Inc. went public in November (Nasdaq: YY) . Clement brought us a unique perspective as someone who grew up in both the US and China. He leads the new generation of young Chinese entrepreneurs who have decided to tap into the vast opportunities in their homeland by returning home after studying abroad.
We talk with Clement about his move to the US as a teenager, and his work with Microsoft's XBox division before starting his own company back in China. He discusses the great leap of faith he took, and how he persuaded his American co-founders to leave their family behind to join him in China. He also talked about how both eCitySky and YY Inc started by servicing a real user need, then found growth as they became open platforms with millions of users. We also pick Clement's brain on the future of gaming, a subject he spends a lot of time thinking about.
Clement's story is one of those unique and inspirational stories that are worth spending some time to listen. Learn about the USD 9 Billion gaming market in China, and gain valuable insight and perspectives from someone in the line of fire.
